Mt Kilimanjaro will be naked

Scientists will soon claim that the snowcap will be completely gone from the top of the highest mountain in Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The glaciers will melt due to global warming and deforestation will only speed up the process. The mountain has had the snowcap since the last ice age 11000 years ago. Farmers have during the last decade burned down forests to make way for crops to the growing population in Tanzania heading for 50 million compared to 38 million as of today. Since forests are essential for rain the mountain top has got less rain than needed to keeping a shining snowcap, which also has affected the mountain’s plant and animal life.
