This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us.

Reason

Can one think about a life outside the reach of mobile phone, it has become so ubiquitous that now it is being considered as a one point utility item that would be repository of all kind of data associated with the existence of a man, and would be a device that would be used for conducting all kinds of day-to-day transactions in everyday life. As far as weight is concerned, efforts are on to bundle as much as possible sub-500-800 gms.
